Only one month remains until
AstriCon 2005, a conference and exhibition dedicated to the Asterisk open source PBX. AstriCon 2005, scheduled for October 12 - 14, is the only event dedicated exclusively to Asterisk and Asterisk-related topics. The conference will take place in Anaheim, California at the Hyatt Regency Orange County Hotel.
Boasting over 1/4 million users in over 200 countries, Asterisk is changing the way businesses purchase telecommunications services and how carriers build their voice over IP (VoIP) solutions by providing a complete business- and carrier-class PBX solution based on a Linux computer.
"The AstriCon conferences have proven to be a success for building awareness of and interest in Asterisk, and for providing an educational forum for all Asterisk users," said Steven Sokol, CEO of IPsando and AstriCon's organizer. "AstriCon 2004 brought in nearly five hundred enterprise users, service providers, interconnect vendors, developers and consultants. We hope to double that count with AstriCon 2005."
AstriCon 2005 includes two optional pre-conference events: the Asterisk.org Developer Summit and "Meet Asterisk!", both scheduled for October 11. The Asterisk.org Developer Summit is meeting for active and prospective developers involved in the Asterisk.org open source project. The Summit includes a review of the current state of the Asterisk code-base, a brainstorming session, and special interest group breakouts. The Meet Asterisk! Introductory seminar provides an overview of the features, functions and applications of Asterisk.
The conference will consist of a day of tutorials, two days of conference presentations, and a trade show/exhibition. The tutorials are presented in three tracks ranging from beginner to advanced and covering a wide variety of technical and business-related topics. The first day is divided into three tracks: call centers, service providers and business solutions. The final day includes keynote addresses by Asterisk creator and CEO of Digium, Mark Spencer, and other industry leaders. The exhibition includes more than 25 Asterisk-related vendors, a product demonstration theater, and an Open Source Forum.
