A special collection of exhibits and displays supporting cable's delivery of voice-related products and services will be featured in a "VoiceNET" pavilion at The 2006 National Show, the 55th Annual Convention and International Exposition of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, April 9-11.
With nearly 5 million customers, voice is a rapidly growing service offered by cable companies, which has taken off recently with the wide scale launch of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology. VoiceNET will be a one-stop showcase of cable's future in offering these important products, offering displays that provide the latest technological advancements to help Show attendees understand the opportunities provided by this emerging service.
Deployment of VoIP service to homes and businesses is one of the significant benefits of cable's fiber optic broadband technology as millions of customers can now enjoy a full suite of voice, television and Internet options.
"Voice is not only a very promising business opportunity for cable companies, it also provides long-awaited consumer benefits by delivering true competition in the marketplace for phone service," said Tom Rutledge, Co- Chairman of The 2006 National Show and Chief Operating Officer of Cablevision Systems Corp. "VoiceNET is an important addition to the National Show and will help focus attention on the industry's leadership role in the development and deployment of new voice services that are gaining momentum and attracting customers."
