NewStep Networks, was named by NetworkWorld as one of 10 companies to watch as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) overtakes traditional telephony.
NewStep is worth watching because its technology allows enterprises and carriers to expand their VoIP services to new devices without an expensive and complex overhaul of systems now in place, according to
the article by NetworkWorld senior editors Phil Hochmuth and Tim Greene.
The article in the January 29 issue notes in
its introduction that “it’s a given that with time VoIP will replace traditional voice technology in corporate networks” and that “in the meantime companies will need technology to make the transition smoothly and expand VoIP to wireless phones, handhelds, laptops and other devices.”
NewStep Networks offers service convergence and fixed-mobile convergence solutions that enable users to move communication sessions seamlessly across access technologies whether they are wired or wireless. The NewStep Converged Services Node (CSN) uses innovative signaling and call control software in a commercially deployed, carrier-grade platform with 99.999 percent reliability.
“FMC has been a high profile topic in the industry for some time now,” said Craig Gosselin, chief marketing officer at NewStep Networks. “While the debate has swirled, we’ve been working to develop our CSN solution. It’s available now and it’s already providing tremendous value to our growing list of customers.”
The NewStep CSN solution is the basis for
the first commercially available fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) solution by a North American carrier. CSN is also being used by several other major carriers in pilot projects.
