Challenger Mobile announces it has been named a finalist for the "Innovation of the Year" Golden Mobile award, one of Europe's most prestigious honors for companies in the mobile communications sector. The finalists and award winners will be recognized at the Swedish Annual Mobile & Telecom Awards on November 8, 2007 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Now in its 7th year of existence, the prestigious Golden Mobile award program is designed to recognize leading technology providers in the mobile sector. The program honors companies in 19 different categories this year, and 7 of the most prestigious awards, including "Innovation of the Year," will be hand-selected by an expert panel of judges. The sponsor of the award program is "Mobil," a leading publication for the mobile industry based in Sweden.
"There is an extraordinary level of activity within the mobile IT sector right now," said Linus Brohult, chief editor for Mobil. "The list of nominated companies this year includes a mix of old and new players, and we're seeing a level of innovation that has surpassed anything we've seen in recent years."
Challenger Mobile is being recognized for its pioneering achievements in Mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (mVoIP) -- a relatively new technology that allows mobile phone users to make low cost worldwide Internet calls via WiFi, GRPS or 3G network connections. Challenger's white-label Mobile VoIP platform enables mobile operators and service providers to deliver mobile VoIP solutions to their subscribers quickly and easily by removing many of the barriers to entry into this quickly emerging market.
"To be named a finalist in the Golden Mobile award program is a great honor for Challenger Mobile, and to be chosen as one of the most innovative companies in the mobile industry is truly inspirational to our team," said Christina Sundman, CEO for Challenger Mobile. "As the industry continues to gain an understanding of the power and value of Mobile VoIP technology, we believe that mobile operators will embrace our approach for providing them with an all-inclusive, branded mVoIP service offering."
