Acme Packet announces three service provider customers in the Caribbean and Latin America are deploying its Net-Net session border controllers: Amzak International, IPLAN Telecomunicaciones and WorldNet Telecommunications. Acme Packet SBCs are now helping service providers in 18 countries throughout the region control their IP network borders, enabling their customers to fully leverage a wide range of trusted, first-class IP communications.

These new customers have deployed Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs to support two primary applications: enterprise hosted voice services and VoIP peering between service providers. With Acme Packet’s SBCs deployed, Amzak, IPLAN and WorldNet benefit from Acme Packet’s Net-SAFE architecture, which provides protection to the SBCs themselves, softswitches and other elements of the service delivery infrastructure, with access control, topology hiding and denial of service attack protection.

Acme Packet’s new customers include service providers in three different countries:

• Amzak International, a cable operator and CLEC in El Salvador, is using Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs to control and secure the delivery of VoIP services to mobile professionals, allowing Amzak’s customers to roam internationally and leverage the open Internet, while protecting its VoIP service infrastructure. Acme Packet’s platform also enables calls to be delivered behind NAT boundaries and routes registrations and calls to various softswitches, optimizing cost and revenue.
• IPLAN Telecomunicaciones, a competitive operator based in Argentina, is using Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs to secure and protect Central IUNI, its hosted VoIP service for small and medium enterprises, and safely exchange VoIP traffic with other service providers. IPLAN also benefits from Acme Packet’s multi-protocol support for SIP-H.323 interworking as the company migrates signaling protocols in the core network.
• WorldNet Telecommunications, a VoIP provider and the third largest telecommunications provider in Puerto Rico, is using Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs to control the delivery of hosted IP telephony to business customers. WorldNet benefits from Acme Packet’s security features, widely interoperable platform and unique adaptive hosted NAT traversal, extending its service reach.
