Pulvermedia announces that Jeff Pulver will host the VONCamp/Unconference at Spring VON.x in San Jose on March 18-19, 2008.
The Unconference is an innovative approach to events that enables participants to identify what they want to talk about, and organize themselves into groups to exchange the information they seek. The discussions that evolve during the Unconference will address a general set of topics identified by the participants -- but the actual agenda will not be set until the event begins.
This dynamic and unfiltered format brings out the most from the audience at VON.x. It leverages the fact that the sum expertise of the audience typically exceeds the collective expertise of the people on stage. Many of the VON.x conference speakers are also participating in the Unconference, providing other attendees with the opportunity to discuss, challenge, and collaborate with many of the thought-leaders of VON.x.
"For years, I've hosted summits with colleagues to promote a free exchange of ideas, and this dialogue has always been at the heart of VON," said Jeff Pulver. "The VONCamp/Unconference takes this premise to a new level by assembling a wider range of people, and placing them in an environment where ideas flow in an unfiltered fashion. Everyone contributes, and the whole ends up being much greater than the sum of the parts. I think the Unconference at VON.x will break new ground, and influence the type of interaction presented at face-to-face events moving forward."
Co-hosting the Unconference with Jeff Pulver is Thomas Howe, renowned VoIP and mashup developer, and principal of the Thomas Howe Company. "The rules of the Unconference are simple -- there are no rules," states Howe. "Every participant is equally valued, and all are encouraged to share their opinions, by leading, or supporting the discussion on a particular topic, or by sharing the discussion with others through blogs or podcasts."
Currently, twelve topics have been proposed by participants. This list is available at
http://www.voncamp.net. Jeff Pulver plans to share his views on social networking, and its evolving role on business, interpersonal relationships, and the blurring lines between the two. Other participants have proposed discussions regarding: mashups, the evolution of Google's Android platform -- and opportunities arising from it, the impact of the Web on Telephony, and other developing topics surrounding Internet communications.
At the VONCamp/Unconfernece, the audience literally has all the power. To find out more about how to participate (and to receive a complementary expo pass to the VON.x Expo), please visit:
