snom Introduces OCS Edition to Enhance Business Communication

snom_logo.jpgsnom announces the first open, standards-based native Office Communication SIP telephone. The snom OCS edition will be introduced to the public for the first time at CeBIT Australia, booth C58, Sydney, 20-22 May 2008. With the snom OCS edition, users can integrate any of snom’s 3xx series VoIP phones with Microsoft Office Communication Server providing them with advanced communications features of Microsoft OCS. To call someone, the user simply has to click on the active directory and the computer can place the call. Furthermore, users can search for their contacts and view their status and send files directly out of OCS. Thus, snom OCS edition is the first VoIP phone to provide professional business communication features like VPN through open standards.

The snom OCS edition phone is SIP-based and can work in parallel on existing IP-PBXs enabling SMBs to gradually transition to business VoIP via hybrid telephony infrastructures. The snom OCS edition phone features a large display area with built-in greyscales to provide users with a clear image of the information on the screen. The phone also enables users to customize the display by way of graphics and high-resolution pictures. It can support several audio devices simultaneously, such as the handset, headset and hands-free. Like all snom VoIP phones, the snom OCS edition is extremely low-current (2 W).

With the snom OCS edition, it is possible for the open standards community to enjoy for the first time the benefits of unified communications. Via VPN (Virtual Private Network), the user can even connect remote offices and remote user businesses. The snom OCS edition will debut at CeBIT Australia 2008 this week. After the trade show, snom will embark on a worldwide road show to be launched under the slogan “unify, simplify, snomify” to Australia (Melbourne and Sydney), USA, Europe and Africa.
