Skype Introduces New Screen Sharing Feature

Skype announces it is providing users with a greater amount of sharing and collaboration than ever before. Skype’s latest free feature, screen sharing, is now widely available for both Mac and Windows users. It allows callers on Skype to easily share what is on their screen, simply by calling another Skype contact and showing all or part of their screen to the other person, at no cost. For business users, screen sharing is a great feature for sharing a presentation, showing a demo or collaborating on a document. For consumers, it’s an easy way to share photos, videos or other creative projects.

Screen sharing is a great feature to complement the Skype experience, which allows people to make free video and voice calls, make low cost calls to landlines and mobiles, send instant messages, and share files with others. For Mac users who have the latest Skype software, they can also enjoy a new feature called Skype Access, which offers low pay-per-minute access to WiFi hotspots.

To use Skype’s screen sharing feature, you simply call another Skype contact and click on “Share Your Screen” in the conversations window’s IM toolbar (using Windows) or Share > Share Screen (using a Mac). You can then choose to share a full screen or just a small part of it. The other person can then see your screen in full screen mode. And best of all, you can continue talking to them via Skype while you share your screen.
