Acrobits Softphone 3.0 Provides Universal Support for Push Notifications on the iPhone

Acrobits released the latest update to Acrobits Softphone last week. With Acrobits Softphone 3.0, they’ve added universal support for call answer on push notifications. This means that users can answer calls from any SIP provider through Apple’s Push Notification Service. Acrobits has the first Softphone on the iPhone to accomplish this, assuring its continued dominance as the leading SIP phone on the iPhone.

By using Apple’s Push Notification Service, users can receive calls on Acrobits Softphone even when the application is closed. Since Apple’s iPhone firmware does not allow applications to run in the background, this is a major improvement in how VoIP can be used on the iPhone. Users can now check their email, review their calendar or even play a game on their iPhone without worrying if they might miss an important call on their SIP account.

But that’s not all. They have added the ability to have multiple accounts active for incoming calls as well as adding iLBC to the supported audio codecs. They’ve also added a couple improvements to their already intuitive, super slick user interface. “We plan to continue improving Acrobits Softphone until it is as feature rich as any desktop softphone client,” says Acrobits. They will be adding any improvements to their increasing library of white label clients as well.

Acrobits is cementing their position as a company to watch in the VoIP market. Mobile devices will play a large part in the future of VoIP and Acrobits’ growing presence on the immensely popular iPhone App Store assures them of a place in that future.
