VoIPocalypse Now: The Impact of Skype, Google, Yahoo! on Telcos

Pyramid Research will be hosting a Webinar titled, VoIPocalypse Now: The Impact of Skype, Google, Yahoo! on Telcos Business Models, on August 29th at 11 a.m. EST. Pyramid Research's Senior Analyst Nick Holland will moderate the event, which will examine the evolution of Portal VoIP and its effect on fixed and mobile operator revenues.

"VoIP has been nothing short of a nightmare for fixed operators," comments Holland. "There are only a few things telcos can do to stem the accelerated decline of voice revenues in an inevitable zero sum game; with the emergence of wireless VoIP, mobile operators will soon face the same threat."

In the Webinar, Holland will address why the 'Big Five' portal players are a pending threat to operator business models; including the damage the major portals will inflict, tactics and strategies for operators to counter Portal VoIP, and the necessary shift to IP for fixed operator survival.

Speakers interested in joining a panel should submit their topic proposals along with their credentials to info@pyr.com by Friday, July 28th. There are also limited sponsorship opportunities available. For more information on how your organization can get involved, please contact Amalia Vega at avega@pyr.com.

Members of the press are encouraged to attend the event at no cost. To register, contact Amalia Vega at avega@pyr.com or by phone at 617-494-1515 (ext. 231).
