Joint Solution to Develop E911 Solution for VoIP Service Providers
Covergence, Inc.
and
RedSky Technologies, Inc.
announced a collaborative effort to develop a standardized E911 solution for VoIP service providers (VSPs) of all sizes that will enable them to quickly and easily meet the FCC's mandate requiring interconnected VSPs to offer customers "wireline equivalent" E911 services over existing E911 infrastructure.
The joint Covergence/RedSky solution will help VSPs meet these regulatory requirements while also making it possible for them to provide an E911 solution that meets the needs of all their users, both static and nomadic. Based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and standard web services data interfaces, the solution will enable service providers to know who is on their network and where they are located, plus give providers the ability to route 911 calls nationally to support end users.
The companies will integrate Covergence's Eclipse solution with RedSky's Location Information Services, which features technology from the company's award-winning E911 Manager, to deliver an end-to-end E911 solution for SIP and IP endpoints on a service provider's network. The solution will be simple to deploy, easy to use and will help streamline operations while helping VSPs differentiate their solutions in the marketplace.
"By integrating our two products, we'll have a standardized E911 solution that can be implemented quickly by service providers and meets the FCC mandate," said Tony Maier, president and CEO of RedSky. "In developing this solution, we are leveraging our core RedSky Location Information Services (LIS) that are already being used by more than 250 customers nationwide."
"Together, Covergence and RedSky can provide service providers with a comprehensive and cost effective VoIP E911 solution that meets their specific operational requirements," said Kenneth Kuenzel, founder and chief technology officer, Covergence. "Covergence is leading the way in the deployment of SIP networks and is committed to partnering with best of breed partners."
Covergence is the leading provider of unified security and management solutions for applications and services based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) protocol while RedSky is the leading provider of automated E911 location information management solutions.
