About
iPico SIP Mobile Client for iPhone and iPod touch
AudioCodes
and
MailVision
announce that
iPico
, a mobile SIP client solution developed by MailVision, is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch. iPico is currently available at Apple's App Store. Other devices such as the Nokia (Symbian) and Windows mobile phones are already supported and deployed.
MailVision's iPico is a stand-alone mobile-phone SIP Soft Client for end users, featuring standards-based presence (availability/non-availability display) and high quality voice in multiple codec formats with an intuitive, simple user interface. iPico is based on the latest SIP standards. It is ready for deployment in large scale networks. iPico utilizes the phone's existing address book's contacts, allowing users to conveniently use their stored information with their phone's standard interface. The Mobile Soft Client is interoperable with major SIP Softswitches and Gateways easing network deployment.
With the introduction of iPico, the iPod touch can become a fully operational mobile phone over Wi-Fi adding to its other capabilities. Operators can now offer their subscribers the ability to initiate and receive voice calls and SMS over a Wi-Fi connection, via their current iPod touch device, at very cost-effective rates. This can be an important application in reducing, for example, expensive international roaming charges.
MailVision's iPico Client Management Platform enables efficient distribution of the iPico software to the relevant mobile handset. The iPico Client Management Platform supports customized features such as remote configuration and setup for various business-models, to meet the needs of Mobile Operators and NGN Service Providers.
"iPico is a powerful mobile VoIP solution, enabling Mobile and Broadband providers to offer end users an intuitive interface at reduced costs," stated Zeev Lerner, CEO of MailVision. "Mobile Operators and VoIP Service Providers can now offer their customers low-cost VoIP services while allowing them to utilize their iPhone and iPod touch as mobile phones."
"AudioCodes actively promotes SIP Mobile Clients for advanced mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPod touch, allowing Service Providers to reduce churn, extend their offering and differentiate their services," stated Lior Aldema, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at AudioCodes. "Our collaboration with and investment in MailVision expands our best-of-breed voice product portfolio to both Service Providers and Enterprises."
