Worlds First Single Chip USB VoIP Controller With Phone Interface
TigerJet Network, Inc.
announces Tiger560C the world's first single chip solution for interfacing any standard phone to a USB port to provide VoIP functionality. TigerJet Network believes that integrating all of the required features into a single chip changes the economic argument so dramatically that VoIP solutions will migrate from using dedicated handsets or headsets towards the use of standard phones to provide that functionality. The Tiger560C enables the use of the same phone (including cordless phones) for all phone calls whether those calls are regular calls or calls using a VoIP service like Skype.
The predecessor of the Tiger560C (the Tiger560B) has been, until now, the most popular choice for implementing a phone adaptor solution where the user can use a regular telephone for their internet telephony application. However, the external SLIC components and high negative voltage logic (over -50V) required by the Tiger560B meant that this solution was significantly more expensive than single piece handsets or headsets and it is these handsets and headsets that currently dominate the mass market.
Tiger560C was specifically developed to address this mass market. Tiger560C is fully software compatible to and provides all of the USB interface functions of the Tiger560B but has, in addition, an all inclusive function block with features such as SLIC, Tip/Ring voltage generator, DTMF decoder, tone generator, and an auto-dial tone control function. Furthermore another new feature, unique to the Tiger560C, is special DTMF hotkey (*#*) detection logic with built in channel switching which allows users to switch between regular land line calls and VOIP phone calls. Dr. YW Sing, CEO of TigerJet Network commented, "Using the Tiger560C, an adaptor that connects the PC to a regular phone can be built using a simple manufacturing process and with a BOM (bill of material) of significantly less than $10." Dr. Sing added, "Having one phone that can be used to make all types of telephone calls is very appealing and now that this function can be enabled so economically, we anticipate a rapid rise in the demand for adaptors that provide this function."
All primary functions of Tiger560C based phone adaptors are software independent and are plug and play compatible with Windows, Linux and MAC operating systems. Moreover, all popular VOIP applications such as: Skype, SIP, H.323, Delta3/Iconnecthere, Net2Phone, DialPad, MSN, X-ten, are supported.
The Tiger560C is currently being sampled to key tier one OEM partners. To shorten design cycles and accelerate time-to-market, TigerJet is providing development kits with hardware reference designs, demo boards and a complete suite of software.
