About
1 Million Residential VoIP Lines Across 5 European Countries in 2005
Netcentrex
, the leading enabler of converged voice-video-data networks and next-generation services, and France Telecom, one of the world's leading telecommunications operators, announced that France Telecom's residential Voice over IP services, running on Netcentrex solutions, have exceeded 1 million lines in commercial service across 5 countries at the end of 2005: France, UK, Netherlands, Italy and Spain.
The initial installation in 2004 was completed in less than 5 months thanks to strong collaboration between Netcentrex technical teams and France Telecom's R&D and Network division. Today, after 18 months of service, the deployment rate exceeds 150,000 new subscribers every month across Europe. This makes this VoIP project one of the most successful commercial ramp ups in the industry, with exceptionally fast time to revenue for France Telecom.
The France Telecom Group is introducing innovative services at the heart of every home using a multi-service network. Residential IP telephony services are based on Netcentrex' MyCall application server providing class 5 telephony services, including voice mail and end-user self care.
"Netcentrex' application server is a key platform for France Telecom's VOIP services" said Vincent Lobry, Director of Residential Communication Services. "Our goal is to encourage use of the fixed network, by developing new services designed to boost customer loyalty, based on abundance, simplicity and transparency."
Netcentrex solutions bring value to France Telecom's marketing by providing an adaptable and flexible platform for the launch of innovative and differentiating services which increase ARPU and limit customer churn. On the technical side, the architecture of the system allows France Telecom's technical department to carry out massive deployments across several countries.
"The 1 million line milestone was made possible by a highly efficient and automated provisioning system, currently activating more than 5,000 new subscribers per day", said Olivier Hersent, Chairman of Netcentrex. "France Telecom is a technical and market visionary, known for introducing creative services in highly competitive environments. We will continue to assist them with differentiation and end-user value, while leveraging their existing investment in Netcentrex technology".
