U.S. Hispanic and Latin American Markets Tap iBasis for VoIP
iBasis, Inc.
, the global VoIP company, announced that
DigiLinea
, a leading VoIP service and infrastructure provider to the US Hispanic and Latin America markets, has interconnected its VoIP Network to The iBasis Network. The interconnection enables DigiLinea to route international voice traffic over iBasis' global VoIP network, and iBasis to route calls to Latin American destinations over the DigiLinea regional VoIP network.
DigiLinea is leveraging iBasis' PremiumCertified international routing product, which is specifically designed to deliver the highest quality and stability for international termination of calls. Through a direct IP interconnection, retail carriers can fully leverage iBasis' VoIP expertise, including sophisticated network performance monitoring and call routing systems based on the company's patent-pending Assured Quality Routing technology.
DigiLinea is also benefiting from the lower capital and operational costs of VoIP and will have immediate access to iBasis' global VoIP network, which comprises more than 100 on-net countries. The relationship with DigiLinea provides iBasis with greater opportunity to capture a significant share of the international traffic from the U.S. Hispanic market and the emerging consumer VoIP market in Latin America.
"One of the major trends changing the global telecommunications landscape today is the rapid adoption of consumer VoIP services and the emergence of new service providers," said Ofer Gneezy, president and CEO of iBasis. "By leveraging our global network and relationships with hundreds of carriers around the world, service providers like DigiLinea are able to deliver the highest quality international service while continuing to focus on growing their consumer base and their regional presence."
"As the leading provider of VoIP services to the Latino market throughout the Americas, we are happy to make the DigiLinea pan-regional VoIP network available to iBasis.
This relationship allows both DigiLinea and iBasis to leverage each others' proven VoIP networks, both of which reflect the companies' commitment to high quality and customer service, making this relationship a win -win for both companies," said Gregory Keough, Chairman and CEO of DigiLinea.
The Latin America market, particularly Mexico, is considered a potentially strong area for VoIP growth. According to Pyramid Research, the Mexican telecommunication services market will generate more than $26 billion yearly by 2010, an increase of 30 percent from the roughly $20 billion in 2005. Revenue growth will be fueled mainly by mobile and fixed broadband services.
