SIP Softphone with the Intel 600SM PCI Phone Adapter

CounterPath Solutions, Inc., a leading developer of award-winning, high-quality, carrier-grade VoIP (Voice over IP) and Video over IP SIP softphones today announced its effort to further enhance the customer experience for VoIP communications through integrating its software with the Intel 600SM PCI Phone Adapter. Specifically, users of CounterPath's eyeBeam SIP-based softphone, in conjunction with any PC utilizing the Intel 600SM PCI Phone Adapter, will be able to make calls utilizing standard phones, corded or cordless.

CounterPath has worked with Intel on optimizing and integrating CounterPath's softphone and Intel's product, including support of wideband audio codecs for improved voice quality. The 600SM product contains an RJ11 port enabling the user to plug their traditional corded or cordless phones directly into their PC to place VoIP calls seamlessly through CounterPath's softphone.

"A key driver of residential VoIP adoption is the ability to maintain the current user experience of communicating on a telephone while enjoying the benefits and savings of VoIP. With our primary development focus predicated on simplifying the user experience while harnessing the capabilities of next generation technologies, CounterPath's softphone, a key component of Intel's product, ensures a consistent experience across multiple platforms," said Donovan Jones President and COO CounterPath Solutions, Inc. "We continue to be excited with the work we are doing with leading companies like Intel as we innovate and develop to the edge of communications."

"Intel software technologies are essential components of the Intel 600SM PCI Phone Adapter. And by integrating optimized best-in-class softphone technology from CounterPath, Intel provides a total VoIP solution which allows OEMs to quickly deliver phone-ready PCs to their customers," said Jonathan Khazam, General Manager, Intel Platform Software Division and Vice President, Intel Software and Solutions Group.
