Intrado and RedSky Partner to Market VoIP E911 Solution
Intrado Inc.
, a global provider of integrated data and telecommunications solutions and leading provider of VoIP 9-1-1 services, announced an agreement with
RedSky Technologies
, a leading provider of E9-1-1 location information management solutions, to market VoIP E9-1-1 services. Under terms of the agreement, RedSky will market Intrado V9-1-1 for Enterprise to Fortune 500 and mid-cap enterprises.
The introduction of IP technology in the PBX environment enables enterprises to support a host of new applications and capabilities, including providing employees with the flexibility to work in remote locations or in nomadic environments as well as establishing branch locations that are networked with a central HUB location. However, as these users often switch locations or move away from the enterprise premises, the technology also creates a challenge if the employee is to call 9-1-1 for an emergency. Locations and phone numbers of the 9-1-1 caller can no longer be easily identified and this can result in complications to get the 9-1-1 call to the geographically correct public safety answering point (PSAP).
Intrado V9-1-1 for Enterprise provides comprehensive E9-1-1 coverage in an IP-based environment. The solution helps ensure that even with such a diverse and complex population, the enterprise is given the highest level of quality and reliable emergency service for its employees. As part of the solution, RedSky will use its award-winning E911 Manager application to track the physical location of phone users inside and outside the enterprise and provide Location Information Services (LIS) to the Intrado V9-1-1 for Enterprise. With the integration of Intrado V9-1-1 for Enterprise and RedSky's E911 Manager application, employees who are either traveling and using a soft phone to access their company's private network, are telecommuters using company assigned IP phone equipment, or are located in remote locations that are networked to the main site for off net calling, can now gain critical E9-1-1 support.
"By combining the two products, enterprise customers will have access to a single-source solution to support both mobile and stationary IP users inside and outside the enterprise," said Tony Maier, CEO of RedSky. "RedSky's E911 Manager can deliver real-time location data which will enable Intrado to route the 9-1-1 call to the local PSAP serving the caller's location."
The comprehensive solution manages all aspects of 9-1-1 support, automatically interfacing with the enterprise network to provision the caller's current location, detecting phone moves, adds and changes. It then provides call routing and delivery to the geographically correct PSAP with the requisite automatic location information (ALI) for each 9-1-1 call.
"Together, Intrado and RedSky can provide enterprises with a comprehensive and cost-effective VoIP E9-1-1 solution that meets their specific operational requirements," said Stephen Meer, Intrado chief technology officer and co-founder. "As IP technology becomes more prevalent in the workplace, we can help enterprise customers address critical employee safety issues."
