Telecom Executives to Explore the Trends Impacting Broadband in China at Triple Play Conference
Over the past few years the number of broadband subscribers in China has increased exponentially. According to the Ministry of Information Industry, there are 122 million users towards the end of 2007. But due to a low penetration rate, there is still plenty room for expansion. While this may come as good news to the nation’s telecom operators, growing the business is not without its challenges. Telecom operators not only need to struggle with having to lower costs but also develop enticing services to attract new subscribers and reduce churn. Another major goal is to devise a business model for such services to make a profit and find ways around the existing barriers.
During next month’s China Broadband Triple Play Conference in Beijing, a team of telecom executives is gathering to discuss the state of the broadband industry and development of IPTV. A two-day program covers topics how the broadband market will evolve with delivery of voice, data and video, what strategies including networks will be the most effective, how trends will shape the new types of services to launch and their business models, plus much more. Several panel discussions along with keynotes and breakout sessions including technical presentation will engage leading industry experts to share their knowledge and experience as well as debate the issues in the market.
Presenters include Conference Chairman, Jiang Lintao, Chief Engineer, China Academy of Telecom Research of Ministry of Information Industry; Yang Kun, Vice Secretary General of Interactive Media Industry Alliance and Engineering Manager for RITT of CATR; Chen Chen, Senior Engineer for Internet Department of China Telecom; Liu Hongqi, Deputy Chief Engineer, Research Institute of China Netcom; Robin Mersh, COO, DSL Forum; Ao Li, Director, Telecom Standards Research Institute, CATR, MII. Also invited to share their insights are senior management from ZTE, Alcatel Lucent, LSI, Redback, Huawei, NSN, Teknovus, Spirent, BroadLight and other industry leaders. The Conference is taking place at Presidential Plaza Hotel, Beijing, March 26 – 27, 2008 in Beijing city.
“To succeed in the coming years telecom operators need to adopt new multi-play business models, and invest in the next generation network technologies that will enable them to achieve their revenue and profitability goals”, said Zhang Wei, Technology Director at Infoex-World Services Ltd., the Event Secretariat. “Our attendees at the Conference will have an opportunity to interact with a group of industry experts, to strategically evaluate strategies, ideas, business models, applications, solutions and technologies that help them to maintain a competitive edge through multi-play services”.
