Meru Networks Receives Grand Prize Award at Interop Tokyo 2006
Meru Networks
, the global innovation leader in wireless infrastructure for the All-Wireless Enterprise, announced that its RS-4000 Radio Switch received the "Grand Prize" Best of Show award in the mobile/wireless category at Interop Tokyo 2006, held June 6-10 in Tokyo, Japan.
Based upon close examination by a team of experts from the IT industry, as well as votes submitted by exhibition visitors, the Best of Show Award recognizes the most promising or most significant product, solution or service in 16 different technology categories. To receive the Grand Prize, the judges in each category must be unanimous about the award recipient. Competing with over 1,300 total entries, Meru emerged as the winner in the mobile/wireless category, beating out the other finalists with its innovative four-radio wireless LAN system.
The Meru Radio Switch's unique architecture is purpose-built to handle the requirements of high density, business-critical data and wireless VoIP applications and to enable the kind of pervasive all-wireless environments that enterprises -- particularly, many pioneering ones in the Asia Pacific region -- are deploying. Meru has achieved a market-leading position in Asia, with more production Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) deployments than any other WLAN vendor. With its RS-4000, which began shipping in volume in January 2006, Meru is enabling enterprises around the world to move toward all-wireless deployments.
"Meru Networks has received Best of Show accolades for our Radio Switch innovation in both North America and Japan," said Kamal Anand, senior vice president of international sales and corporate strategy for Meru Networks. "More importantly, we've found that customers are enthusiastic about its unique capabilities and about the productivity, performance and cost benefits they can achieve by using the Radio Switch as a foundation for their next-generation wireless networks." He added, "Japan, in particular, is a very competitive and pioneering market, and we are pleased to see the rapid acceptance and acknowledgement of our Radio Switch as a core foundation for the All-Wireless Enterprise."
