Sony Electronics introduced the VAIO UX Micro PC, placing full-size computer performance in a pocket-sized package.

RADVISION, a leading provider of multimedia conferencing, communications platforms and development tools, announced that U.S.-based Atmel(R) Corporation is licensing RADVISION's SIP toolkit to be used on Atmel's product line of wireless and wired Voice-over-IP (VoIP) processors.

The toolkit will be used to bring advanced VoIP capabilities to Atmel's VoIP processor devices that are targeted at embedded applications such as enterprise VoIP WiFi and wired phones and VoIP enabled home routers. Atmel's silicon products with RADVISION's SIP embedded will be used by tier 1 and tier 2 OEMs and original design manufacturers (ODM) that design and develop wireless VoIP handsets for the Enterprise, SOHO, Service Provider and consumer markets.

TelEvolution, developer of PhoneGnome, the telephony industry's first true PSTN to Internet telephony solution, announced the newest capability of the PhoneGnome family, GnomeLink for Skype. GnomeLink extends the capability of PhoneGnome, adding interoperability with Skype. Ruckus Wireless, the innovator of smart Wi-Fi technology, announced that Maxisat Ltd., a leading Finnish triple play provider, has selected the Ruckus Wireless smart Wi-Fi system to solve the growing problem of how to reliably distribute digital voice, video and data services throughout subscriber homes.

JDSU announced that three of its triple-play test products won high marks in this year's Diamond Technology rating from Broadband Gear Report's (BGR) 2006 Diamond Technology Review Panel. These products included the NetComplete VoIP service assurance solution for cable operators, which received the highest assigned score -- a 4.5 out of a possible five.

BGR called JDSU's NetComplete VoIP service assurance solution "an excellent product with technical features and performance that provide clear and substantial benefits." Only eight of the 31 products reviewed this year received a 4.5 Diamond rating. No product has ever scored higher than a 4.5 in the two years of this program.

ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) unanimously approved the creation of the new .Tel Top Level Domain (TLD) and awarded the contract to Telnic Limited.

"The .Tel domain offers the first genuinely different use of domains since .com was first created. It will provide seamless integration of existing methods of communication with emerging technologies like Voice over IP (VoIP). This places the .Tel domain at the core of the next phase of Internet development," said Khashayar Mahdavi, CEO of Telnic.

iBasis, Inc., the global VoIP company, announced that it carried an all-time record volume for U.S. Mother's Day. On May 14, 2006, the Company carried over 43 million minutes of traffic. This represents a 60% increase from Mother's Day 2005.
