A new version of the Call Global iPhone app is now available in iTunes, the latest version of the mobile VoIP app allows users to make high definition VoIP calls over their 3G Network at no extra charge. Mobile VoIP calls are now no longer limited to WIFI zones, iPhone users can now make HD VoIP calls from anywhere their phone has a signal.

iPhone user's will now have the ability to make mobile VoIP calls from anywhere their iPhone has a 3G signal. In the past VoIP calls have been limited to WIFI zones, restricting most free and low-cost VoIP calls to a user's home or office.

Phone.com announces the availability of two mobile apps that make the Phone.com Virtual Office service accessible from iPhones and Android devices. Phone.com Mobile Office, the first app to extend office phone capabilities for Android-powered phones, lets subscribers make and receive calls, send and receive text messages, and more from their Phone.com number using their Android phone.

Phone.com Mobile VoIP for the iPhone allows subscribers to use their Phone.com Virtual Office account from an iPhone to place VoIP-based calls using either a Wi-Fi or 3G data connection.

Skype announces the launch of the new version of its iPhone application. Available to download from the Apple App Store today, this update allows iPhone users to make and receive Skype-to-Skype calls, and to call mobiles and landlines around the world at very low rates for the first time over their 3G data connection.

Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G will be free for a trial period which will run until the end of 2010. Details of pricing will be announced in the coming months and will be in line with Skype's commitment to providing customers with great value. Skype-to-Skype calls over WiFi will still remain free.

VoX Communications has completed development of a downloadable mobile VoIP application for use on Symbian mobile phones.

According to Gartner, 80 million Symbian devices were sold worldwide in 2009, or approximately 47% of the entire global smartphone market. Symbian devices are so dominant in the marketplace today, that it would take the combined sales of the iPhone, RIM, Windows Mobile and Android to equal the same volume opportunity. VoX estimates that its app can be downloaded to more than 100 million Symbian mobile phones that are currently in use. Research In Motion announces BlackBerry Mobile Voice System 5 with voice over Wi-Fi calling. BlackBerry MVS 5 works with Cisco Unified Communications Manager to provide a business user with the ability to use their regular desk phone number and extension from their BlackBerry smartphone. With the new version 5, an employee will be able to use a single work phone number shared between their desk phone and BlackBerry smartphone and make and receive enterprise calls on their BlackBerry smartphone over a Wi-Fi connection, adding to the existing capability available over cellular networks.
