Qnective can post one of its first significant triumphs. BT inmo has purchased a licence for global sales of mobile VoIP solutions from Qnective. The Qtalk product family forms the basis for secure, cost-optimised mobile services which BT inmo is developing for BT Global Services.

Vyke has formed a strategic partnership with Nimbuzz. This strategic partnership builds upon the component strengths of both Vyke and Nimbuzz by combining Vyke’s paid mVoIP service and Nimbuzz’ mobile peer to peer mobile social messaging and VoIP services.

CounterPath has been assigned United States patent number 7,502,615 for its technology pertaining to handoffs between cellular and IP telephony. The newly patented technology enables users to roam between mobile and IP networks seamlessly, allowing active calls to be handed off faster between mobile and IP networks.

Truphone plans to launch, later this year, Truphone Local Anywhere: a single-SIM, multi-country mobile service that will make any mobile call within the set of supported countries into a local call. The introduction of Truphone’s multi-country, single-SIM service will change the current experience of people with an international lifestyle. Their mobile experience is currently characterized by frustration, brought on by constantly having to juggle multiple SIM cards and mobile phones in order to minimize their mobile costs.

Truphone integrates AIM into its Apple iPhone and iPod touch applications. Now customers on both devices can use Truphone to also instant message their AIM friends via their AIM identity. JAJAH announces a complete revamp of the iPod touch, turning the device into a fully functioning mobile phone for consumers. The new capability, available as a white label solution, enables carriers as well as non-carriers to launch the service under their own brand and provide their customers with the ability to make low-cost phone calls and send SMS text messages to any phone in the world from their iPod touch. To use the service, end users only require an iPod touch and a Wi-Fi connection, with no need for a SIM card or contract.

Truphone announces its Truphone Anywhere application for Android-enabled mobile handsets, including the recently released G1 phone. The application is available now as a download on the Android Market in the UK and the US.

To coincide with T-Mobile’s announcement earlier this week of the availability of the G1 mobile phone in March 2009, a German version of Truphone Anywhere for Android is available and will be the first native language multi-communications application in the Android Market in Germany and Austria when it launches at CeBIT 2009.

i2Telecom announced its mobile phone solution, MyGlobalTalk, has been accepted by Google for inclusion on its Android Marketplace and is now available for G1 Google Phone users have already begun signing up. By downloading the application for MyGlobalTalk from their G1 Google Phone, users can realize significant savings on their international and long-distance calls.

i2Telecom's MyGlobalTalk has been submitted to Apple for inclusion on its iPhone App Store. MyGlobalTalk is a free downloadable application that will allow iPhone users to place inexpensive phone calls to destinations anywhere in the world for as little as two to three cents per minute via their carriers’ cellular voice networks. This contrasts sharply with the current methods in which users place regular calls via their mobile phone service providers at prices that can easily reach or exceed one dollar per minute when calling locations outside of the United States.

Boingo Mobile gives mobile phone and smartphone users from the iPhone to the Nokia Nseries and Eseries to any Wi-Fi enabled Windows Mobile device the ability to get online at more than 100,000 Boingo hotspots around the world.

Boingo Mobile is a downloadable application for smartphones that works on a variety of mobile operating systems, including Symbian and UIQ devices, Windows Mobile, and the iPhone platform. Skype announces the release of a lite version of Skype, a ‘thin’ client for Skype that can be downloaded on Android-powered devices, as well as more than 100 other Java-enabled mobile phones.

This launch builds on successful public testing last year and the incorporation of user feedback to an earlier beta version which was only available on a limited number of mobile devices. Vyke has released a beta version of its Mobile VoIP software and service for Blackberry devices using RIM software, which is available through Vyke’s enterprise sales channels. With the addition of this Blackberry software, Vyke now offers its Mobile VoIP solution on the three most used mobile operating systems in the enterprise market namely Symbian, Windows Mobile and RIM. However, Vyke’s Blackberry solution is unique as it uses a variation of VoIP which enables users to make VoIP calls over the Vyke network at any time their phone has GSM coverage, not only when the phone is in range of Wi-Fi or 3G mobile data coverage. The software supports most Blackberry devices dating back as far as 2003.

Nimbuzz has agreed to a major distribution deal with Spice Mobiles, leader in innovative handsets in India. New Spice Mobile handsets will have the Nimbuzz application pre-installed for users to chat, message and send files on the go; and Spice Mobiles becomes a major distribution partner to join Nimbuzz's global Manufacturer Affiliate Program.

From December most of the new Java and Windows Mobile handsets will be rolled out to the Indian market via Spice Mobiles' approximately 25,000 retail outlets with the full Nimbuzz communication portfolio installed.
