The Galveston County Emergency Communication District (GCECD) recently implemented the first IP-enabled Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) in the state of Texas. Time Warner Telecom Inc., a leading provider of managed voice and data networking solutions for businesses, announced the successful installation of its SIP IP connections for VoIP services to Boise State University.

Mitel, the trusted innovator of IP communications solutions and applications, announced that Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska has selected it to implement an advanced IP communications system throughout its campus. This is the first major deployment of VoIP in the state of Nebraska.

"Our old system was due to expire and the cost to upgrade and continue with a Centrex system would increase significantly," said Wayne State College chief technology officer Denis Linster. Fusion Telecommunications International, Inc. announced that it filed a patent application with the United States Patent Office for its Directed SIP Peer-to- Peer ("DSP") technology, acquired by Fusion in February 2006.
