American Cable Strikes a 'Triple Play' in Florida

VoX Communications Corp., eLEC Communications Corp.'s wholesale and retail provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services nationwide, announced that American Cable Services, an independent cable operator located in Ocala, Fla., is deploying VoX services as the broadband phone component of a new "triple play" offer, which also includes cable TV and high speed Internet. The offering is first being deployed in Little Harbor, a coastal resort community of 2,300 residences in Ruskin, Fla.

UHS Broadens IP-Based Alarm Monitoring in the U.S.

Two additional alarm monitoring companies have chosen UHS Systems, Inc. to provide wholesale, Internet Protocol (IP)-based alarm monitoring service to their customers. The contracts make IP-based alarm monitoring more widely available in the United States. Terms of both contracts were undisclosed. UHS Systems offers broadband IP security alarm services, video event verification, live remote video viewing and digital wireless back-up solutions to its customers, and is the American subsidiary of the Australian broadband company UHS Systems Pty Ltd.

Vonage: Nearly 80 Percent of U.S. Subscriber Lines Have E911

Vonage America Inc., a subsidiary of Vonage Holdings Corp., a leading Internet telephony provider, announced that nearly 80 percent of its U.S. subscriber lines now have Enhanced 911 (E911) service -- a feature that automatically associates a physical address with the calling party's telephone number -- and that it is continuing to quickly equip new counties across the nation with E911 everyday.

For the past six months, Vonage has been turning up on average over 112 calling centers in more than 45 new counties each week. Over the past two weeks, Vonage equipped an additional 260 calling centers in over 45 new counties with E911 -- bringing the total number of calling centers across the nation with emergency service to over 4300.
